Community Food Co-op of UTAH

My neighbor recently told me about this food co-op and today I picked up my second share. Last month was my first time doing it, and while I thought the produce was great, I didn't feel like I was getting a HUGE deal. But it was food we eat, and maybe just a little bit of savings, so I thought I'd try it again. I'm more impressed with it this time around, and maybe it gets better the more orders they have!? So, pretty much I just wanted to share what we got today (for $10)

a bag of spinach, a bag of potatoes, 2 big bunches of green onions, a bag of green beans, a package of mushrooms, 6 ears of corn, 4 pears, 7 nectarines, and 10 plums! Each month is different too, based on what's in season. So it's kind of like Christmas getting ready to see what your produce share will have. You don't know until about 3 days before pick up! :) Kind of exciting!

They have sites all over and I was just so excited I wanted to share. All I wish, is that they did it more often than once a month. But if you are interested check it out!

Our Date/ Hike

After not seeing each other all summer Christian and I decided to spend a day up the canyon. On August 16th my sister Jennie was nice enough to watch the boys all day so that we could do this. Thanks Jennie!

So we headed up Big Cottonwood Canyon toward Snowbird! What a beautiful area.

There's the resort and where the hike starts as well.

Just enjoy the pics! The scenery was amazing! Seriously couldn't have been a better day. I'm so glad Christian is home. (Don't know if I've emphasized that yet! :))

Can you see the little rodent on the rocks? They were all over, running in front of you on the trail and along side in the brush as well.

Here is the first lake. We weren't planning on going down to this one. But this is most popular one to stop at.

The water was so dang clear and calm! Seriously a gorgeous day!

I LOVED these pinkish flowers. Anyone know what they are?

The views all over were absolutely breathtaking!

I wondered where Kyler got his knack for climbing! Now I don't! :)

I even loved the colors on the rock! So pretty!

Here's the second lake.

We hiked through this meadow and up to the top of the rock in about the middle of this picture. To the left of the big tree above Christian.

And here we are on top of that rock looking down to the 3rd lake! This is where we sat for lunch.

Can you tell I was in love with the scenery? The texture and color up that canyon were seriously awesome!

On the way down we even saw a cute chipmunk sitting on an old log.

And there's that first lake again on the way back. It was a great date and a fun hike! It was so nice to be able to spend so much time with Christian. Tomorrow he starts school at BYU. He's worked so hard this summer to make all this work. I'm so lucky to have him as a husband! Our boys are lucky to have him as their Daddy! Welcome home baby!

End of summer?

August 12th we decided to get together for lunch and swim one more time before school starts and the end of summer etc. (Good thing we did...with all this rain we have had recently)

Kyler sure has gotten good at the slip'n slide this year!

Taelin seemed pretty content as long as he had a shovel in his hand! What a cute little guy.

I love the boys in our neighborhood. So glad to have so many to play with!

Jaden was LOVING jumping into their pool! He loves to make a SPLASH!

Oh wait, there's Kyler, hanging out with the girls! I'm telling you, he's already a ladies man!

Dinner with Grandma and Grandpa McIntosh

On August 11th we headed up to Grandma and Grandpa McIntosh's house and took them some dinner. You can see how excited Grandpa was about us being there!

The boys had a fun time playing with this VERY old toy I remember playing with when I was about the same age. Gotta love the classic toys that still work great!

While Kyler waited his turn, he played some stuff for us on the organ. This kid loves to make noise!

Eventually he got his turn with the toy as well.

For dinner we brought up some home made chicken cour don blue, a pasta salad, some acorn squash from the garden, corn and Annette's famous scotch-a-roo's. It was all delicious and everyone had a great time. Oh and don't forget the famous McIntosh "red juice."

Yup, you can see the after math of that red juice on Kyler's upper lip. At least we know it's a hit! What a great bunch!
