Kyler is growing up more every day. He's cooing a lot now and loves to wiggle and smile. He's even batting and kicking toys more as well. Thanks goodness those first 2 months are over....they sure are rough!

Yes, that is FUDGE! And Yes...I am the nicest mom on the planet! So here is what happened. I asked Jaden if he wanted some fudge. Right away he started dancing a little jig and singing "we can't budge, budge, budge!" This made me laugh so hard because he was imitating a part in a Backyardigans episode (Quest for the Flying Rock) where they are stuck in the sand and singing "We gotta trudge, trudge, trudge...We can't budge, budge, budge...." And at the end of one of the verse they say "It's like being stuck in fudge!" Oh the mind of a 2 year old. Maybe you will only appreciate this if you have seen that show, but now when he wants fudge he says "I want some budge-budge!" I just had to give him the rest of the block!

Another new accomplishment....Kyler sucks his hand!

That is, unless he misses and jabs himself in the eye instead!

I've got a BIG kid!

Kyler is 2 months old! We always said we wanted a chunky kid, and today at his 2 month appointment we saw the results of the last couple weeks! He is 24 1/2 inches and weighs 13 lbs 13 oz! His head is 42 cm around! All 3 put him above the 90%! Guess we got our wish! We'll see if he keeps this up, and we'll be sure to keep you posted on it all!

Santa

We've been trying for several months now to get Jaden excited to see Santa so that when he finally saw him he wouldn't be scared! And when Jaden saw him Monday night he knew just what to do. Santa asked what he wanted for Christmas and Jaden said "I need tools!" Guess we'll see what Santa brings him next week....if he keeps being a good boy!

Kyler sure smiles a lot!

Jaden loves to tickle Kyler. Probably because when I was pregnant I would tell Jaden that the baby was going to come play soon. I tried to explain to him that it would be a while before the baby could "play back", but it was always okay to tickle him! It's amazing what a 2 1/2 year old can remember! Again, he's sharing his blankie!
Kyler sure seems to smile a lot. Maybe it was all the tickling of my belly when i was pregnant with him! Whatever the secret...we sure love him so much!
Jaden wanted to help daddy shovel the first snow! He didn't realize what he was getting himself into. He kept saying how cold he was when he came inside. Maybe we'll be able to convince him to play in it again though!

What a GREAT little helper!

Whether it is helping out with Kyler, unloading the dishwasher, working with daddy's tool, or picking up his toys, Jaden is such a great helper! I think he is beginning to realize that Kyler is a part of our family. He is a wonderful big brother!

The first 2 weeks!

I can't believe it's already been 2 weeks since Kyler was born! Boy does time fly when you are having fun.....uh...I mean staying busy! We've had so many visitors and so many friends helping out. Thank you to everyone! It was nice having my mom here for a week; don't know how I survived this week without her. We even managed to go to part of story time at the library this week. Jaden sure is handling all this change very well. And Kyler seems to be growing just fine. He now weighs 8 lbs 15 oz! He's quite the eater!

Growing like a weed!

So, I have always been a bit skeptical about baby's length measured at birth. They have been so crunched up for months, it's gotta be hard to stretch them out straight to get a precise measurement. Now, after having 2 babies, I don't believe the measurement at the hospital is at all accurate! At 2 weeks old, both of my boys measured in at 22 1/4 inches! (And i am sorry...but there is no way they can grow 3 inches in 2 weeks....can they?) :)

Nice Shots Dad!

Mom and Dad Mealey were coming out to spend the weekend with Jaden, and it worked out that Kyler was born early enough to catch them. Dad happens to be pretty handy with a camera, and I wanted to share some of the candidish shots he took.

It just occurred to me that I'm not doing a great job of acting like a guy who doesn't get excited by baby photos (see my first post about Kyler). We're really lucky, and I am really excited. Thanks for being excited with us.

AN UPDATE ON KYLER: He's still a little charmer. We just can't get over how easy it was to get him to eat (if you are interested, sometime you can ask Mel about trying to get Jaden to eat). Right now he's sleeping next to me wrapped in a blanket made by Triena, a friend from work (a little piece of trivia - Triena is also responsible for making Jaden's all-time number one blankie). Kyler has finally shared his lungs with us a couple times (it's not that we want him screaming all the time, but it's nice to know there's a personality behind his sweet face), and he's had both of us already wondering if we're ever going to sleep right again (he wants to have food going into him more than regularly, and the food keeps coming out just the same).

KYLER IS HERE!!!

Friday morning at 9:21 our little boy was born. Kyler's in fantastic condition. We couldn't be happier. Mel and I both kept asking the nurses if there was something wrong with our son because he barely made a peep. When they stuck him with a needle, he made a little whimper, and he showed off his lungs a bit when they gave him a bath. The rest of the time he's been a little charmer and just let us look at him.

Mel is in good shape. She can't stop talking about how happy she was with her midwife and what an improvement this birth was over the last time. She was a champ (aided by the power of the epidural of course).

I admit I've never really been that interested in pictures of newborns, but I know I'm in the minority, and I'm very interested in these ones. Here are a couple shots of the morning:
