It's Pajama Time

Jaden seems to really enjoy reading books! He loves story time at the library and can't wait to check out more new books every week. Over the last several weeks we have found some new favorites. It's Pajama Time, by Sandra Boynton, is a book that we have checked out several times before but this time he REALLY liked it. Of course like any time we get the camera out, he doesn't want to perform. But we were amazed at how much a 2 year old could memorize so thought we would try and capture some of it. If you haven't read the book before it's a for sure must read! If you have read it before you will laugh as Jaden says ..."some are pink and some are green. Some are the ugliest you have ever seen..." Maybe it's more funny for us, but we hope you get a kick out of it as well.

35 and counting...

As I have been pregnant this time around I have gone back and forth as to "what sounds shorter," as far as counting down goes. Well, today I hit a magical number...I'm 35 weeks or I have 35 days left! I guess honestly both sound like I have forever to go, but alas, the countdown continues. One day, or one week at a time, however you want to look at it.

Chocolate overload Brownie Recipe

For any chocolate lover out there, this is a recipe worth making!...Make double chocolate Ghirardelli brownie mix and put on the bottom of a greased 9X13 pan. Then put a layer of Cadbury soft toffee bars (about 4 king size bars) on top of the mix. And then top it with another layer of double chocolate Ghirardelli brownie mix! Bake at 350 for 40 min. Yum yum yum! Allow to cool before serving. So rich and makes a TON! (You can half the recipe and do it in a 9X9 instead) Have fun experimenting with other candy bars as well...symphony, caramelo, whatever you're craving! Let us know if you come up with a combination you love!

That'll put you into labor!

So, Wednesday night we had quite the scare! At about 1:00 in the morning our smoke alarms went off! (That'll wake you up!) After what seemed forever they turned off on their own. Christian walked all around the main floor checking rooms and closets for smoke. I checked on Jaden and the upstairs rooms. NOTHING!!! After about 2 minutes of looking around the house they went off again. So loud, and so annoying! Over the next hour they went off 4 times, turning off on their own each time. Finally, out of ideas we called the fire department who showed up with their huge firetruck (luckily no sirens) and began a search of the house. Mostly they were testing for carbon monoxide. NOTHING!!! They told us that it was probably dust in the smoke detectors and to vacuum them out. Sounds fun at 2:30am huh? So they leave and we begin our "cleaning." We don't get very far when we discover that we can't get inside the alarm. Time to pull out the owners manual and figure it out! That's what Christian did anyway. I checked on Jaden again and then went to bed. Within about 10 seconds of my head hitting the pillow they went off AGAIN!!! This was the longest one yet. Half asleep, all Jaden kept saying was "it scare me." And yet again, the loud annoying sounds stopped all on its own.
Finally at around 3:15am Christian said he thought he had it figured out. I hear him get the vacuum and a chair out. Not much time passed before I heard a loud crash and then (after me yelling "are you ok?...") "...yeah...can you bring me a shoe? I think I found the problem!"
That's right folks...a shoe! And for what? A SPIDER?! That is what this was all about? Christian had indeed figured out how to open the smoke detector and in so doing was startled by a spider trying to make a new home in there. (that was the crash I had heard...him falling from the chair being startled by this obnoxious creature!)
So, if your smoke alarms are going off randomly someday, it may be because there is a spider in one of them trying to make a new home! Hope it doesn't keep YOU up until 3:30am!

Farm Country Pics

Farm Country

We have been to Farm Country at Thanksgiving Point several times this summer. I finally remembered to take my camera and got a couple shots of the fun Jaden has there with his friends. Jaden is getting pretty professional at riding a pony all on his own! He loves making the sounds of the animals there too, especially the donkey! There is so much for a 2 year old to keep busy with. It's no wonder we go there often.
