Nice Shots Dad!

Mom and Dad Mealey were coming out to spend the weekend with Jaden, and it worked out that Kyler was born early enough to catch them. Dad happens to be pretty handy with a camera, and I wanted to share some of the candidish shots he took.

It just occurred to me that I'm not doing a great job of acting like a guy who doesn't get excited by baby photos (see my first post about Kyler). We're really lucky, and I am really excited. Thanks for being excited with us.

AN UPDATE ON KYLER: He's still a little charmer. We just can't get over how easy it was to get him to eat (if you are interested, sometime you can ask Mel about trying to get Jaden to eat). Right now he's sleeping next to me wrapped in a blanket made by Triena, a friend from work (a little piece of trivia - Triena is also responsible for making Jaden's all-time number one blankie). Kyler has finally shared his lungs with us a couple times (it's not that we want him screaming all the time, but it's nice to know there's a personality behind his sweet face), and he's had both of us already wondering if we're ever going to sleep right again (he wants to have food going into him more than regularly, and the food keeps coming out just the same).

A couple of you have asked to see Kyler's baby photo compared to Jaden's baby photo. Below is a shot of Jaden when he was 2 days old.

KYLER IS HERE!!!

Friday morning at 9:21 our little boy was born. Kyler's in fantastic condition. We couldn't be happier. Mel and I both kept asking the nurses if there was something wrong with our son because he barely made a peep. When they stuck him with a needle, he made a little whimper, and he showed off his lungs a bit when they gave him a bath. The rest of the time he's been a little charmer and just let us look at him.

Mel is in good shape. She can't stop talking about how happy she was with her midwife and what an improvement this birth was over the last time. She was a champ (aided by the power of the epidural of course).

I admit I've never really been that interested in pictures of newborns, but I know I'm in the minority, and I'm very interested in these ones. Here are a couple shots of the morning:

Girls Night Out!

Wednesday we had a girls night out and decided to go to a haunted house in Salt Lake. It didn't put me into labor, but it was tonz of fun! I hadn't been to a haunted house for many years and forgot how much fun they really are! Talk about female bonding! So much fun!

Halloween FHE

In an attempt to get to know our neighbors a bit better (as discussed in General Conference) we decided to make sugar cookies and take them to some neighbors we didn't know. Jaden really liked playing with the dough and using the cookie cutters (like play dough). When he realized that this dough was edible, there was no more playing! He ate his portion all up! It was a fun FHE activity, and now we at least know the names of our neighbors!

My parents were here for conference weekend. One of the games that Grandma B was sucked into was letting Jaden throw a ball at her! He sure thinks that is so much fun! Grandma was sure great to put up with it for so long!

Along with the many things Jaden seems to enjoy doing, he loves talking on the phone. (Even if no one is there to talk to!) He has also recently started doing a "fake sneeze" randomly while playing! He always knows how to make us smile!

Lately, it seems that our weekly dates include Jaden. Last week we went to Chuck E Cheese to play. Jaden's favorite things to do there were climb up the tower and go down the slide, (over and over and over) and games where he got to shoot a gun! He is such a boy.
