Safety Fair

Jaden's school had a safety and wellness fair last week. There were different booth all over the parking lot with all sorts of hand outs. It was like Christmas getting so many "prizes." :) Toothbrushes, bouncy balls, pens and pencils, etc. The kids loved it! The police even had a bike course set up to go through. And they were selling helmets for really cheap, so we finally got Kyler a helmet!
At the end, they had a small group perform a skit. Jaden has been going to a couple practices after school and wanted to be a part of it. After a few practices without his friend Joey though, he wasn't so sure about it. Anyway, he stuck it out, and did a pretty good job.
Here is the opening song they all performed together. Jaden hasn't ever done anything like this, choreography, dance, whatever...I was proud of him for sticking to it. He is glad it is over though! :)
After the opening they divided into smaller groups and sang other songs, and had some speaking parts as well. Jaden's line was "It's too bad every kid at Meadow Elementary isn't a Safety Kid." Then they talked about how every kid can be, they just need to learn and follow the rules!

FINALLY!!!

Jaden got his Spiderman skateboard for his birthday when he turned 4! (almost 1 1/2 years ago) Don't know what finally made him want to really get it out and not just ride it down the driveway, but I'm sure glad we have had a couple of warmer days for him to enjoy doing this. I'm glad Joey his buddy like to play as well. Whether it's bikes, scooters, big wheels, or skateboards, these 2 boys do it all together! These pics are from his 2nd day riding!

I didn't quite get the video going in time to see, but Jaden has also figured out how to stay on the skateboard and spin in a circle. I just got a bit of it here at the beginning of the video. So fun!

Canning Pears

What happens when Mel spends all day in the kitchen....besides a horrible mess? We end up with 21 quarts of pears! What a job! Glad I know how to can one more things though. On to tomatoes!

Labor Day

Wow, I guess I never did a post on Labor day weekend. Oops. Well, better late than never.
We celebrated the weekend with Maddix for his birthday at the Lindon pool.

There's my cute nephew! Can't believe he's 2! What a cute kid!

Kyler showing off his moves on the slide!

Jaden loved tipping backwards off this floating board. I think the boys spent most of their time here! Gotta love the "floaty suits."

For Labor Day on Monday we spent the morning at Cabella's. The boys loved it there and if it weren't for naptime, or lunch time, we could spend all day there I am sure.

We headed up the canyon for a picnic dinner. The boys thought it would be fun to cross the freezing water to get some rocks to throw.

Kyler thought it was WAY too cold. His feet were "burning."

Jaden couldn't have been more happy!

Thowing rocks with Grandpa. What could be better?

Good looking bunch of boys!

More rock throwing wherever possible...

A walk in the canyon with Oma. Yeah, life's pretty good!

Updated update!

Just wanted to clarify that my previous post had NO intentions whatsoever of giving hints of gifts for Christmas. WE ARE NOT GETTING A PUPPY FOR CHRISTMAS! (Nor do we want anyone to be giving us a puppy for Christmas.) Just wanted to post something funny that was occupying Jaden's thoughts.
Also, forgot to mention that Christian has started a website to keep his thoughts about the MBA experience he is going though. If you would like to check it out at any time here is the link!

Here's an update!

School is underway, for 2 of my boys. Christian is doing fantastic and has even decided to switch tracks. He got into school thinking he would be heading along the Finance track, but has recently changed his mind. He's now on the Marketing track! I'm so proud of him and all he puts up with in school. It takes SO much of his time, but he's doing a great job and I can't wait to see what happens next! Holding my breath for the next 2 years I guess! :)
Jaden LOVES LOVES LOVES school still! Wednesday's they have Library day and it's so interesting to see what kind of books he's interested in and brings home. (They get to keep them for a week.) The first time he brought home a book all about Marine animals. He was so excited to show me the HUGE whale! He was so fascinated in it, I thought it was fun to read to him. Mostly a very factual book, with lots of pictures and very small writing with facts everywhere! (Did you know that most adult Walrus's weigh over 1 ton?!)
Now to this week...there's a little story first. Jaden is obsessed with puppies. (If you didn't know that one, you obviously don't keep up with our blog!:) ) He loved having my sister's dog here this summer and really does miss Macie. So this last week he started talking about how we need a puppy for Christmas. I just tried to be honest and straight with him letting him know that "No, we won't be getting a puppy for Christmas."
After hearing about this for DAYS, I finally asked Jaden why he felt like we needed to get a puppy for Christmas. His response was too cute. "Because Mom. You know....like in Toy Story....the happy ending!" Anyway, again had to let him know there just wasn't any way we were getting a puppy.
So I thought he dropped it. Until he came home with a book on Wednesday from the Library. It's called something like the Un-Christmas Story and has a picture on the front of a kid with their puppy! Yes, he is obsessed! It'll be fun to see what books he continues to bring home!
Since we are talking about Jaden I might as well share something else he said this last week. His good friend Misha, and our neighbor, happens to be in his class at school. She still seems slightly nervous about the whole bus thing and it's so cute to see her just cling to Jaden's backpack as they walk onto the bus each morning. I was later talking to Christian about it and I could tell that Jaden was listening. I turned to Jaden and said "You take care of Misha huh?" He responded "Nope, I just like to look at her." He still makes me smile!
So, all this time at school leaves mommy and Kyler time! Which has been fantastic! WE get to go to playgroup. And WE get to go to story-time. And I get to play outside with just KYLER! It really has been fun to have that time with just him! He's growing up so much and is really good at saying Thank You when you give him his breakfast, lunch, dinner, a toy, anything. Pretty good manners for a little guy. I'm sure he's said some funny stuff too, I just can't think of it now. He misses his brother in the mornings, but is getting used to this new schedule with a lot of mommy time!
I am still working at the Rec Center coaching gymnastics and loving it! I love my schedule this fall. I seem so keep myself and the rest of the family busy with all the stuff I sign up for and want to participate in, but loving it all.
WOW! So, there's an update for you. Guess I haven't been taking as many pictures since Christian has been home. I'll have to keep up better with that. But it had been a while since a post, and thought I should fill you'll in. Hope you smiled or laughed a little!

Family Time at Bear Lake

Wow. I feel so behind with my posts! So, WAY back in August, the first weekend Christian was home we decided to head up to Bear Lake to spend some much needed time together as a family. After not being together for 14 weeks this was great!
The kids wanted to show him everything he missed out on over the 24th of July. We seriously need a swingset. The boys LOVE this little thing.

And before it got warm enough to head down to the lake, the boys still wanted to be outside. So they threw frisbees...as high up as they could! They are so easily self-entertained.

FINALLY it was time to head down to the water with DADDY! It was so great to be up there just the 4 of us!

Kyler loved "swerteen" the water.

Jaden was loving splashing his dad! (Mom was loving staying on the beach and out of the water, she thought it was pretty cold!)

Daddy was loving being with his boys again!

Bear Lake isn't Bear Lake without some buckets, shovels and mud!

It was great to have some much time together before the craziness of school began.

We took the paddle boat out and the boys enjoyed jumping off and into the water with Christian. Again glad he was willing to do this with them in the cold water.

I think we are all enjoying Daddy being home!
